A Bradford landlord has been fined following a house fire at one of his properties.
Hasan Kazi of Laisteridge Lane, Bradford, a landlord of a four storey property containing multiple bedsits was fined at Bradford Magistrates’ Court.
In November 2016, Environmental Health Officers from Bradford Council’s Housing Standards Team visited a property in Pemberton Drive, Bradford, after being contacted by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service who had dealt with a fire in the basement of the house.
The officers said they found the property in a very poor condition. There was a large accumulation of rubbish in the garden and the entrance lobby was strewn with broken glass. The officers were extremely concerned that the fire alarm did not activate when the fire had started and there was also evidence of rat infestation.
Kazi was ordered to pay a total of £12,320 and costs of £2,600.
