A Bradford fly-tipper has been prosecuted after dumping rubbish almost on his own doorstep.
Ladislav Demeter, 41, was caught on CCTV cameras as he dumped waste three times on a grass verge on the same street in Barkerend.
Mr Demeter was interviewed by council officers and admitted that he was the individual in the film footage.
He said he thought that the area was a legitimate council collection point for rubbish as he had seen other people dumping items there which was later cleared away by council workers.
He was fined £400 with costs of £875 and £40 Victim Surcharge by Bradford magistrates.
Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said: “We want to send a loud and clear message to fly-tippers that we will do our utmost to catch them.
“Their behaviour shows that they are quite prepared to treat their own communities with utter contempt. There is no excuse for dumping on your own or other people’s doorsteps.
“If you see fly-tipping taking place, please note down as many details as possible, including vehicle licence plate numbers and inform the Council.”
