The public is being asked for their views about a proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) which aims to reduce the nuisance use of vehicles in Bradford District.
Bradford Council says dangerous, inconsiderate and anti-social driving can significantly affect how safe people feel and data from West Yorkshire Police shows reports have increased by 47 per cent in the last three years (597 in 2014/2015 to 866 in 2017/2018).
The proposal includes measures that address public nuisance caused through car cruising events on public highways and the use of excessive amplified music which could cause distress.
Coun Abdul Jabar Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety said: “Other Local Authorities have experienced positive outcomes using this legislation for this type of behaviour.
“It will provide joint partnership enforcement powers which strengthen operational options to tackle nuisance and anti-social use of vehicles.
"I would encourage everyone to take part in the consultation so that we can work together to make Bradford’s roads safer for everyone."
