Two men have been arrested after a man was forcibly taken from near his home in Manchester.
At around 10.00pm on Tuesday 18 December police were called to Elsmore Road in Fallowfield to reports that a man had been forced into a car.
A short time later the victim was removed from the first car on Maine Road in Moss Side before being seriously assaulted in the street and then forced into a second car.
Later that night a man in his 30s was discovered with serious injuries on Fitzwarren Street in Pendleton. He was taken to hospital where he remains for treatment.
Two men, aged 34 and 30, have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap in relation to the incident.
Superintendent Dave Pester of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Although we now have two men in custody, I would like to stress that this investigation is very much ongoing and finding those responsible for this incident remains our top priority.
“We are treating this as a targeted attack, and our detectives are continuing with their enquiries to establish why this man has been subjected to such a harrowing ordeal.
“I can appreciate that this might cause some concern in the community, but I want to reassure people that we are doing everything we possibly can to progress our investigation.
“Please get in touch if you know anything or if you saw something suspicious, as your information could be vital in allowing us to piece together what has happened and why.”
