Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan Reportedly Reuniting After 19 Years for Ritesh Batra Film

Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan are reportedly preparing to share the screen again after nearly two decades in an upcoming film directed by Ritesh Batra, best known for The Lunchbox.

According to entertainment reports published on Thursday 22 October, Vidya Balan is expected to join the cast of the currently untitled production, which has begun filming in Mumbai.

The project would mark the actors' first film together since Eklavya: The Royal Guard in 2007. They also appeared together in the 2005 romantic drama Parineeta.

Priyanka Chopra reportedly exits project

The casting developments follow reports that Priyanka Chopra has withdrawn from the film because of scheduling conflicts.

According to Mid-day, the actress had been interested in collaborating with Saif Ali Khan and Ritesh Batra, but existing professional commitments prevented the dates from working.

Filming began on 21 October at a museum in Byculla, Mumbai, with Saif shooting his scenes while casting discussions continued.

International star reportedly joining cast

French actress Mélanie Laurent, known internationally for her role in Inglourious Basterds, is also reportedly joining the production.

The film is described as a period drama involving a love story set within a family.

However, the final casting arrangements have not been officially confirmed, including whether Vidya Balan will take over the role previously associated with Priyanka Chopra.

A title and release date have yet to be announced.

The possible reunion is already generating interest among fans who remember Saif and Vidya's earlier collaborations.
