Two people have been arrested after a woman was stabbed to death in Leigh.
Police were called by the ambulance service shortly before 8.00pm yesterday evening (Sunday 17 March) to a property on Manchester Road, Leigh.
A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was found dead at the scene with stab wounds.
A man, 39, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman, 37, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Superintendent Jon Chadwick of GMP’s Major Investigations Team said: “We have now made two arrests in connection with this terrible incident.
“We will continue to support the lady’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.
“We’re determined to give them the answers they deserve and we’re appealing for the public’s help to do this.
“Were you in the area at the time of the offence or have any information that can assist us? Don’t hesitate to call officers if so.
“We have two police scenes in place and people in Leigh will notice an increased police presence over the coming days.
“If you have any concerns, or would like to speak to our officers, they will be happy to talk to you.”
