Plans for a new state-of-the-art sports and leisure facility at Squire Lane in Bradford have moved a step closer after the planning application was approved.
Plans for a new sports and leisure centre at Squire Lane in Bradford have taken a major step forward after the planning application was approved.
The council-led scheme includes two swimming pools – a six-lane 25-metre pool and a depth-adjustable learner pool – along with a fitness gym and two studio spaces for exercise classes. The designs were developed following extensive public consultation.
The project is set to be primarily funded through twenty million pounds of Government Levelling-Up funding, with a detailed procurement and financial assessment process now getting underway.
Bradford Council’s Executive Committee is expected to consider the final scheme in summer 2026, ahead of appointing a contractor to begin construction.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw said securing planning approval was an important step towards delivering a long-awaited facility for the area.
