A woman hit by a car on a motorway near Bury has died from her injuries sustained in the collision.
Police initially thought a Mercedes struck a woman's body on the M66, near junction 2 for Bury, at about 2.00am on Thursday 2 May.
But officers later confirmed the woman, thought to be in her 40s, had suffered fatal injuries in the incident.
A spokesperson said there were "unusual circumstances" and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
