Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are treating two gunshots in Salford this week as linked.
The first incident involved men being seen with guns on Benedict Close, in Lower Broughton, on Tuesday 4 December.
Later on the same day a man took himself to hospital after he was shot on the doorstep of his own home.
Manchester Evening News reports that a message sent to councillors in the area has said both incidents are being linked by GMP.
