Two nightclubs in Manchester have been shut down after one man died and another was injured.

Mambos and The Spot, in Manchester city centre, had their licences revoked following two incidents on the same night.

In the early hours of Sunday 30 July, a large fight broke out at Mambos involving people armed with knives and using bottles as weapons.

Witnesses reported seeing Tashan Stevens, 27, fall in the River Irwell, after he was chased by officers. His body was found with multiple stab wounds.

A short time later, paramedics were called out to The Spot to treat a man who had been stabbed. The man suffered serious injuries including a punctured lung.

The bars can appeal the decision to revoke their licences at Manchester Magistrates’ Court if they wish.
