Large amounts of tobacco and alcohol were seized in an operation across West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
A two-day operation to disrupt the supply and sale of illegal tobacco led to the seizure of more than 100,000 cigarettes, 17 kilos of hand rolling tobacco and 7,900 litres of alcohol, all believed to be illicit.
Officers from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) with support from Wagtail, Police, British Gas, Home Office, Environment Agency and Local Licensing Authority, visited 65 retail premises in, Huddersfield, Halifax, Scunthorpe and Grimsby last week.
The visits, as part of HMRC’s Tobacco Taskforce activity, led to suspected illegal tobacco products being seized from 25 premises.
