A ‘suspicious device’ found attached to a cash machine in Greater Manchester is believed to have been put there by robbers attempting to blow it up.
The device was found yesterday, 9 May, at an ATM at the Gulf Petrol Station on Huddersfield Road in Stalybridge.
The road was cordoned off while officers and fire crews investigated the area and was reopened at around 10am.
This is the second time that the same cash machine has been targeted by thieves.
In September last year the ATM was blown up, with four men believed to have been involved in blasting the dispenser from the wall.
Investigations into yesterday’s incident are on-going.
