Bradford’s SkillsHouse partnership has passed a major milestone in helping more than 700 local people gain employment since it first opened in June 2015.
In December 2015, SkillsHouse reported that 304 local people had gained employment in the district as a result of the opening of The Broadway Shopping Centre as well as seasonal recruitment across the district. Now that figure has passed the 700 mark.
SkillsHouse is a Bradford partnership offering a one-stop-shop solution principally for recruitment. As well as working with retailers in The Broadway, SkillsHouse also works across the District to help fill a wide range of vacancies.
SkillsHouse is part of Bradford Council’s innovative Get Bradford Working Programme and is supported by Jobcentre plus, Westfield (the developers of The Broadway in Bradford City Centre), People 1st and local skills delivery partners.
Cllr Imran Khan, portfolio holder for education, employment and skills, said: “It’s good news that so many people are continuing to access the recruitment and training that’s on offer at SkillsHouse. Supporting local people so they can gain the skills they need to get into employment is a key priority for the Council and it brings benefit to the district as a whole.”
