Two sisters who tried to pervert the course of justice by approaching a juror in their brother’s murder trial have been jailed.
Masooma Khan, aged 33 of Queens Crescent, Camden, London, and her sister Sakina Khan, aged 34 of The Avenue, Bronbsbury Park, London, were each jailed for 18 months after admitting perverting the course of justice at Leeds Crown Court.
The court was told that two weeks into the trial of their brother Naseer Khan they donned full hijabs and followed a juror to Wakefield as he made his way home hoping that due to his ethnicity he would be sympathetic to their pleas. He refused to speak with them and told staff at the courts the next day and the sisters were arrested.
Their brother Naseer Khan and accomplice Abdullah Ullah were jailed for life after being convicted of murder by the jury a Leeds Crown Court last February
