A Rochdale man who repeatedly raped two girls and a woman has been jailed.
Michael Burke (03/09/1978) of College Bank, Rochdale was sentenced yesterday at Manchester Crown Court to 15 years in prison, five years extended license, and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.
Prior to being sentenced, Burke had been found guilty of eight counts of rape and one count of buggary.
During the course of the trial, the court heard how Burke had targeted his first victim and raped her on a number of occasions between September 1992 and December 1994.
Three victims came forward to police in February 2015 and an investigation was launched, culminating in a three week trial at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.
Detective Sergeant Louise Bentley of GMP’s Public Protection Division said:
“This has been a long running and complex investigation, which wouldn’t have been successful without the support and cooperation of three brave women who came forward to tell police of their terrible ordeal.
“I hope this sentence will go some way to bringing them closure and also some comfort to know that their attacker has been brought to justice.”
