Police investigating the shooting of a man in Levenshulme believe it was a targeted attack.
At 7.05pm on Wednesday 22 June 2016, police were called to Forest Range by paramedics who were treating an injured man.
Officers attended and found that a 35-year-old man had been shot.
The man has been taken to hospital for treatment to a gunshot wound to his leg. His condition is described as stable and is not believed to be life-threatening.
Superintendent Steve Howard, from GMP's City of Manchester team, said: “We have launched an investigation and early enquiries suggest that this was a targeted attack we do not believe this is linked to any other recent incident.
"People will undoubtedly be alarmed when they hear news of this shooting but I would reassure them that we have significant resources investigating this incident and have stepped up patrols in the area.
"Our investigation is at an early stage and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this shooting, or who saw or heard anything that can help us with this investigation.”
Anyone with information should call West Didsbury police station on 0161 856 8009, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
