Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery at a graveyard in Staincliffe on Monday 3 April.
The victim, a woman in her 50s, was approached by a male who tried to grab her bag from her arm between 4.20pm and 4.35pm.
The man approached the woman and pulled the bag from her shoulder, but the victim resisted and the suspect made off empty handed.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 25-years-old, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with light, brown hair and an unshaven face.
He was wearing a blue sweatshirt with a white checked shirt underneath.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who saw a man fitting the description to please get in contact with police.
