Police are appealing for information to trace a vehicle following a collision on Sunday evening which left two pedestrians with injuries.
The incident occurred around 7.25pm when three vehicles, a silver Audi RS6, gun-metal grey Audi A3 and silver BMW 3 Series and their occupants were seen acting suspiciously on The Common.
The Audi RS6 is believed to have collided with the BMW and is thought to have extensive damage to the rear.
Occupants from nearby properties were alerted to the incident and came to assist. As a result a local 49-year-old man was knocked to the ground by the one of the vehicles which began to make off at speed, resulting in serious head injuries. The male remains in a stable but critical condition in hospital. Another local male, aged 56, sustained minor injuries to his legs.
Officers recovered a BMW 3 Series car from the scene and the Audi A3 car was located a short time later at Henley Road in Dewsbury.
PC Julian Ingham of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West said; "I would appeal to anyone who was in and around the area at the time and may have seen either of the three vehicles or their occupants prior to, or immediately after the incident to come forward.
"In particular, I would appeal to anyone who has any information as to the whereabouts of the silver Audi RS6 which has extensive rear end damage which made off from the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of what took place."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Ingham at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West via 101 quoting 13160318346. Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail.
