Over £200,000 was handed to community projects in West Yorkshire with cash seized from criminal activities.
Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), handed over the funds at an awards event last night, 3 August, for his Safer Communities Fund.
The Safer Communities Fund is financed through money recovered from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act and this latest round brings the total amount of money returned to West Yorkshire communities to £1.9m since 2014.
50 projects were successful in the latest round, which invited groups to apply for funding who were looking to address priorities within the Police and Crime Plan including community cohesion, missing people, radicalisation and road safety.
The successful groups and projects attended the awards evening in Wakefield to collect their grants of up to £5000.
