A Bradford mother and her friend have today been jailed for the sustained abuse of a little boy who they even locked in a cupboard at home whilst they enjoyed a day out in Blackpool.
Bradford Crown Court heard that the five year old boy was locked away naked in a cupboard, beaten with a metal rod and struck on the head with a stiletto shoe. The pair even tried to bind a head wound they had inflicted with superglue.
The child's mother, aged 40, was locked up for two-and-half years after she was convicted of two offences of child cruelty.
Her friend, aged 29, was imprisoned for four years after she was found guilty of both cruelty offences and two charges of unlawfully wounding the little boy.
The women, both of Bradford, cannot be named to protect the identity of the little boy who is now in care.
