The boss of a construction firm that caused havoc by downing tools on a busy Manchester road has claimed his company is owed £300,000 by a council contractor.
Thomas Halligan apologised to motorists who were held up when diggers were left abandoned on Regent Road in the city centre on Tuesday 12 March.
He said his firm, Total Plant Hire, was owed the equivalent of four months' pay by Dawnus Group, which has since halted work on a project in Wales.
Mr Halligan’s company was hired to carry out work as part of the £15m Manchester-Salford Inner Relief Route improvement scheme, which is upgrading six major junctions along Regent Road.
