A man with a gun was discovered with multiple stab wounds in Heywood.
Shortly after 7.00pm on Tuesday 10 October police were called to an address on High Street to reports of a man with a firearm.
The man was badly injured and had walked into a house where the occupants immediately called emergency services.
Armed police were dispatched to the address due to the nature of the call.
On arrival, officers found a man in his 40s who was bleeding heavily after suffering stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A search of the area was immediately conducted and a firearm was recovered.
Officers believe the man may have been involved in an incident on Albert Street on the junction with Bury Road and are continuing enquiries.
