A 27 year old Bradford man who made more than £320,000 from stripping down high end stolen vehicles in his garage has been ordered to pay back just £1 of his ill-gotten gains.
Back in May of this year Mukhtar Kazmi, of Curzon Road, Bradford Moor, was jailed for six and a half years after he admitted handling stolen high performance vehicles worth more than £120,000 and whilst on bail being involved in a break-in at a motorbike dealership in Dewsbury.
A hearing at Bradford Crown Court under the Proceeds of Crime Act heard that Kazmi’s benefit from his criminal conduct was valued at £323,472 but he only had realisable assets of £1.
The Judge did find that if Kazmi is found to have assets in the future he can still be ordered to pay back more money than the confiscation order of £1.
