Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in an assault in Huddersfield.
The incident took place between 9.45pm and 9.50pm on Wednesday, 1 November, on Holly Terrace in Fartown.
The victim, a 53-year-old man, was approached by a male suspect while returning to his car.
He was attacked with a bladed weapon and suffered a head injury.
A male relative of the victim, who was waiting in the car, got out to try and protect him. He was struck to the hand by the suspect who then made off.
The 53-year-old was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he continues to be treated for an injury which is serious but not believed to life threatening.
The other victim, was treated for a minor injury to his hand and face.
