A 38 year old man with a history of drug abuse who stood waving a large kitchen knife in Shipley shouting threats about paedophiles has been sentenced to an 18-month community order.
Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court heard that Zahim Shah, of no fixed address, was first arrested on July 12 after he was seen with a lock knife in the Bradford City Park at 5pm.
Whilst on bail for that offence the court was told he was abusing alcohol and diazepam when he was spotted with a kitchen knife, shouting threats in Kirkgate, Shipley, at 7.30pm on September 3.
He pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of a bladed article in a public place and was ordered to undergo a nine month Drug Rehabilitation Requirement and a ten day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement with the probation service to address his drinking.
