The body of a man found in the canal at Apperley Bridge yesterday, 13 June, has been identified by police.
His next of kin has been informed and enquiries are continuing with the Coroner.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Social media speculation connected the discovery of the body with reports of a man with a gun by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Silsden yesterday morning.
However, police said at the time they were not treating the incidents as linked and they have since arrested a 15-year-old boy, who has been released without charge.
It is believed a small BB gun had been recovered and is due to be destroyed.
