Police Name Erdem Mustafa, 35, as Victim of Fatal Shooting at Enfield Pub
A 35-year-old man who was shot dead inside a north London pub has been named by police as Erdem Mustafa, as detectives continue their search for the person responsible.
The fatal shooting took place at approximately 9.30pm on Monday 19 October 2026, inside the Sun and Woolpack pub on Hertford Road in Freezywater, Enfield.
According to the Metropolitan Police, an unidentified gunman entered the premises and shot Mr Mustafa several times before fleeing.
Emergency services, including armed police and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance, attended the scene.
Despite the emergency response, Mr Mustafa died following the attack.
Police believe shooting was targeted
The Metropolitan Police has launched a murder investigation and believes Mr Mustafa was deliberately singled out.
Detectives have released CCTV footage showing a person they want to identify in connection with the incident.
Police previously said they could not determine whether the person captured on camera was male or female, or whether they were wearing a disguise.
The individual responsible has not yet been located.
Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the murder investigation, described the killing as a tragic and senseless act.
He said:
"Our thoughts remain with Erdem’s loved ones following what is undoubtedly a tragic and senseless act that led to his death."
He added that while detectives were keeping an open mind, investigators believed the shooting was targeted.
Major investigation on Hertford Road
A police cordon remained in place around the Sun and Woolpack and surrounding streets for two days following the shooting.
Forensic officers were seen examining the premises and gathering evidence as part of the investigation.
The Metropolitan Police is urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
Officers are particularly interested in CCTV, doorbell camera recordings, dashcam footage and mobile phone videos that could help establish the movements of the suspect.
Chief Inspector Bhangoo stressed that even seemingly minor details could assist detectives.
Extra police patrols in Freezywater
The shooting has caused concern among residents and businesses in the surrounding community.
In response, the Metropolitan Police has increased patrols in the Freezywater area.
Chief Superintendent Anna McCartney, who leads policing in Enfield, said detectives were working urgently to identify and locate those responsible.
She said:
"Extra officers remain in the area to offer further reassurance. Serious violence has no place in our community."
She added that the Metropolitan Police remained committed to tackling gun crime and bringing those responsible for serious violence to justice.
Second fatal shooting in London this month
The killing follows another fatal shooting in west London earlier in October.
Levi Davidson, 40, died after being shot during an incident near a memorial gathering on Baybrook Street in Acton on 2 October.
Police were called following reports of gunfire and a disturbance near Wormwood Scrubs Open Space.
At the time of the latest report, no arrests had been made in connection with that investigation.
There is no suggestion that the two shootings are linked.
Appeal for witnesses
Detectives investigating Mr Mustafa's death continue to appeal for information from anyone who was in the Hertford Road area on Monday evening.
Members of the public with information or relevant footage are urged to contact the Metropolitan Police.
Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
