A man has been charged as part of an investigation into a robbery in Accrington town centre yesterday (February 8).
Police were called to Broadway at 6.19am to reports a woman in her 50s had been pushed to the ground and robbed. She suffered a broken wrist and was taken to hospital.
During the incident the victim had her mobile phone stolen.
The police attended and a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Anthony Clarke, 39, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery, attempted robbery and possessing a bladed article in a public place.
He was remanded into custody to appear before Blackburn magistrates.
Anyone with information, specifically, the Police believe that another man was approached and threatened just prior to this incident, but managed to run away. Police would like to speak with you as a witness.
