A man appeared in court today, 24 April, charged in connection with an investigation into jury tampering during a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
Jamie Lawson, aged 28 and from the Harehills area, is charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Jonaade Hussain, aged 27 and from Beeston, and a 15-year-old girl appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on Saturday, 22 April, charged with the same offence. The case was adjourned and Hussain was remanded in custody and the girl was bailed.
The investigation relates to a trial at Leeds Crown Court which concluded in February this year with four men being jailed for a total of 37 years for offences including manslaughter and conspiracy to commit fraud in relation to a 'cash for crash' incident in Beeston in September 2014 which caused the death of 88-year-old Betty Laird.
