A 41-year-old man appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court after he was charged with two robberies in Huddersfield.
Shazad Afzal, of Cow Heys, Dalton, was charged with robberies at Tesco Express in Long Lane, Dalton and Bradley Filling Station in Leeds Road.
He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and was remanded in custody to next appear before Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, 9 September.
The charges relate to two incidents that occurred on Wednesday, 11 August.
