A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal fail to stop collision in Manchester.
At around 9.25pm on Thursday 28 June, a woman was crossing Chester Road at a pedestrian crossing near to the junction of Manson Avenue in Hulme when she was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Mondeo.
The pedestrian, who has since been formally identified as 24-year-old Emma Galton from Sale, died at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.
A 28-year-old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Danny Byrne, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We have been carrying out numerous enquiries since this tragic incident happened on Thursday and we currently have a man in custody being questioned.
“Our investigation is on-going and I want to continue to appeal to anybody who thinks they may have any information that can assist us, no matter how big or small, to please contact police.”
