A man has been charged with being a part of a Bradford carjacking and robbery gang.
On 4 December last year a shop worker was robbed by three men, two of them armed with knives, after the men had carjacked a vehicle and put false registration plates on it.
Haroon Shah, 21, was alleged to have been one of those armed with a knife and involved in further offences.
Bradford Crown Court heard that the victim, Hemed Ahmed, was withdrawing money from a cash machine on Carlisle Street in Manningham, when three Asian males approached him. One got in the back seat of his car and when Mr Ahmed tried to remove him he was punched on the head. The three then drove off with the vehicle.
It is alleged that, after changing registration plates, the men then entered Lytton Food Store and threatened shop worker Zaheer Khan with knives.
They took money from the till as well as cigarettes and Mr Khan’s mobile phone.
Haroon Shah pleads not guilty to possession of a bladed article, two charges of robbery and one of theft.
