Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with potentially life-changing injuries following an attack in Rochdale over the weekend.
Shortly before 3.50am on Saturday 13 October, police were called to Oldham Road in Rochdale to reports that a 24-year-old male had entered a takeaway seeking shelter after being attacked and robbed.
Police and ambulances attended and the man was taken to hospital with head injuries. He is currently in a serious condition.
It is believed the victim was at the cash point next to the Cask and Feather pub on Drake Street when the robbery happened.
Eyewitnesses have reported seeing three Asian men in the area, all wearing dark clothing, one between the ages of 17 and 20, and police are keen to speak to them in connection with the incident.
Detective Sergeant Kim Hines from GMP’s Rochdale borough said: “We have a man in hospital with very serious injuries, and we are determined to find the people involved. This is an unprovoked attack and officers are working tirelessly to identify the suspects”
“My thoughts are with him and his family; I hope he is able to make a full recovery.
“It was early in the morning when this incident happened but there were people around who were returning from nights out and using the takeaways.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this horrific robbery to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We cannot let violent offenders like this get away with leaving someone with injuries that could affect them for the rest of their lives.”
