Islamophobic letters, threatening acid attacks on Muslims, have been posted to Bradford residents.
The anonymous letters, which claims that acid attacks will be carried out on Muslim women wearing burqas, have been seen in the Hanover Square area.
West Yorkshire Police said they are taking the threats “very seriously” and they have increased patrols in the area.
The letters come before the English Defence League plans to march in Bradford on Saturday, 2 September, which coincides with Eid celebrations.
Nadeem Murtuja, Chair of JUST Yorkshire, said in a statement: “People in positions of power, locally and nationally, need to become more visible in their stance towards protecting the human rights of all communities, including the Muslim community.”
He added that there seems to be a correlation between columns posted in the Sun by Sarah Champion and Trevor Kavanagh and the racist literature seen in Bradford.
