A 27-year-old Leeds man already serving a prison sentence for possessing indecent images of children has been jailed for a further two years after falsifying references to secure nursery employment. Police have reassured parents that no images of children in nursery settings were found on his electronic devices.
Leeds Man Given Further Two-Year Jail Sentence for Faking References to Work in Nursery
A Leeds man already imprisoned for possessing indecent images of children has received an additional two-year prison sentence after admitting he falsified employment references to obtain work at a nursery.
Kristian Parry, 27, of Middleton, Leeds, was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on Friday 23 October 2026 after pleading guilty to fraud by false representation.
Parry was already serving a prison sentence of three years and eight months following his conviction in March for offences involving indecent images of children.
The latest sentence will be served in addition to his existing prison term.
False references used to obtain nursery employment
According to West Yorkshire Police, Parry falsified job references between 17 June and 20 September 2025 to secure employment at a nursery.
The fraud offence came to light during a police investigation into his activities following his earlier conviction.
Parry was summoned to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on 2 October 2026, where he admitted the offence.
He subsequently appeared at Leeds Crown Court for sentencing on 23 October.
The court imposed a further two-year prison sentence.
Police reassure parents following investigation
West Yorkshire Police acknowledged the concern the case has caused among parents whose children attended nurseries where Parry had worked.
However, officers confirmed that no images of children in nursery settings were discovered among the indecent images recovered from Parry's electronic devices.
Detective Superintendent Scott Hartley, of Leeds Police, welcomed the additional conviction.
He said:
"We welcome the additional conviction today for Parry’s criminal activity in falsifying references to gain employment."
He explained that the fraud was identified during the investigation into Parry's activities following his earlier conviction.
Investigation uncovered further offending
Detective Superintendent Hartley said police recognised the anxiety caused to families by the circumstances of the case.
He added:
"We fully recognise the concern this case will have caused parents of children using the nurseries Parry worked at and want to again reassure parents that no images of children in nursery settings were found on devices recovered from Parry."
The additional conviction brings a further prison sentence for Parry, who remains in custody for his earlier offences.
The police statement does not identify the nurseries involved or indicate that any children attending those settings were depicted in the recovered material.
