A landlord has been ordered to pay over £1,600 after shop signs for her tenant’s businesses remained in place on a building she was responsible for without planning permission.
Iffat Majeed, of Newstead Drive, Bolton, admitted at Bolton Magistrates Court contravening an enforcement notice and planning laws at restaurant Passion Canopy, and at the takeaway Brunchers. Both businesses share premises in Deane Road, Deane and are run by businessman Ahmad Raza. Raza arranged the signage but the court was told that Majeed who owns the building is legally responsible.
The court heard that although a retrospective planning application was refused and the planning inspectorate rejected an appeal back in August, the signs remained in place until this weekend.
Majeed was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £630 in costs.
