Hundreds of pounds worth of food and treats are set to go to people in need this Christmas thanks to donations by Kirklees Police.
Up to 15 boxes of food including household essentials, Christmas treats, drinks and more have now been given to local charities by the Kirklees officers and staff.
Instead of giving each other cards and gifts, officers were instead requested to make charitable donations to food bank charities to benefit those in extra need of some Christmas cheer.
Organisers were pleased to find donations were soon racking up with all sorts of festive favourites piling up in police stations.
Officers began donating items two weeks ago and then arranged to deliver the items yesterday, distributing them to various locations across Kirklees District.
Speaking on the donations, Inspector Graham Dyson of the Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a fantastic idea to help people across the District.
“We know for a variety of reasons people can struggle to make ends meet, especially at this time of year and I was extremely proud and humbled to see the amount of contributions that were made.”
The food donations were distributed to: Fusion Food Bank, Dewsbury; Batley Food Bank; Holme Valley Food Bank, and The Welcome Centre, Huddersfield.
