Bradford Council’s Executive is being asked to give-the green light to a series of measures to improve traffic flow in Keighley town centre.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said “This scheme contains a range of short, medium and long-term measures to help improve traffic flow in and around Keighley town centre.”
“Although physical obstacles like bridges and buildings constrain the amount of work which can be undertaken, there are many smaller projects which can make things better.”
Earlier this year Bradford Council approved the funding and a strategy of implementing the improvements, and the latest report to be considered next week updates members and seeks approval for delegated powers to carry on with the projects.
A series of measures are planned in the near future including widening of North Street, re-allocating road space between the junctions of Cavendish Street and High Street, and the installation of a one-way system in Gresley Road.
“We hope that this series of minor works, when completed, will contribute to a significant improvement Keighley town centre traffic flow,” said Councillor Ross-Shaw.
Executive members will discuss the proposals at a meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, 6 December.
