An operation involving specialist detectives in Leeds to target ‘county lines’ drug dealing has seen four men arrested.
As part of Programme Precision officers from the Leeds District team worked with colleagues in Durham Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police and British Transport Police to make arrests in Leeds and Manchester in connection with drug dealing in Leeds, Darlington and Harrogate.
It follows months of painstaking work between the forces to build up an evidential picture on those suspected of being behind the supply of drugs between those areas.
Two men were arrested from addresses in Leeds and two men were arrested from address in Manchester.
All four were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and remain in custody.
Large amounts of Class A drugs and cash were recovered.
Detective Inspector Phil Jackson, of the Leeds District Precision Team, said: “The arrest phase executed today alongside our colleagues from other forces has been the culmination of many months of painstaking work by specialist officers to identify those we suspect of being involved in these county lines drug dealing operations.
“This particular type of offending is a national problem which cuts across a number of issues from organised crime and violence to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
“Today’s arrest operation should clearly illustrate how we are continuing to work alongside other local police forces, local authorities and voluntary and community organisations to target all aspects of this type of crime.”
