A former supply teacher from Salford has been jailed for six years after admitting multiple child sexual offences involving pupils at seven secondary schools across Greater Manchester, including the creation and sharing of inappropriate images using artificial intelligence.
A former supply teacher has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting a series of child sexual offences committed while working at secondary schools across Greater Manchester.
Abusali Rahman, 37, from Salford, was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on Thursday, 15 October, after pleading guilty to multiple offences earlier this year.
Greater Manchester Police said Rahman abused his position of trust over approximately 18 months, between December 2023 and June 2025.
During that period, he secretly took inappropriate photographs of female pupils using his mobile phone while working in classrooms at seven secondary schools across Bolton, Bury and Salford.
Police identified 12 girls who had been targeted, although investigators were unable to identify a further three girls featured in the photographs.
The investigation also uncovered more than 300 inappropriate images involving children, including images that had been created or altered using artificial intelligence.
Officers said Rahman had shared some of the material on social media, accompanied by offensive and degrading comments.
The police investigation began after officers were alerted to the online posts.
Rahman was initially arrested in June 2025 and subsequently arrested on further occasions as additional offences came to light and following breaches of his bail conditions.
Following an examination of several electronic devices, he was charged with multiple offences.
In May 2026, Rahman pleaded guilty to 21 charges, including taking and distributing indecent images of children, producing AI-generated illegal images, publishing obscene material and an offence involving secretly photographing beneath a person's clothing without consent.
Alongside his six-year prison sentence, Rahman was made subject to a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Greater Manchester Police said officers have been working closely with the affected schools, local authorities and partner organisations to ensure appropriate safeguarding and support arrangements are available to pupils and their families.
Detective Constable Lisa McGaffin, from Greater Manchester Police's Bolton Child Protection Team, condemned Rahman's actions and highlighted the serious breach of trust involved.
She said the welfare of the girls affected had remained a priority throughout the investigation.
The detective added that children should be able to trust teachers and feel safe in educational environments, describing the abuse of such a position of authority as particularly serious.
Police have reiterated their commitment to protecting children and taking action against anyone suspected of exploiting young people.
