The swimming pool at Keighley Leisure Centre will close temporarily from 23 October to 2 November for essential maintenance, with a full closure of the centre planned for one day.
The swimming pool at Keighley Leisure Centre is set to close temporarily later this month as essential maintenance and improvement works are carried out.
The pool will be closed from Friday 23 October until Monday 2 November, while the remainder of the leisure centre will continue operating as normal during this period.
However, the entire centre will close on Friday 30 October to allow contractors to undertake urgent repairs to the main drain.
The maintenance programme will include deep cleaning of the poolside and surrounding areas, cleaning drainage channels, servicing the pool and balance tanks, and carrying out remedial tiling work in the changing facilities.
The latest improvements follow significant refurbishment work completed last year, which included the installation of solar panels, upgraded swimming pool filtration systems and energy-saving measures.
The centre's main water slide was also repaired and brought back into use.
According to Bradford Council, the new maintenance programme relates to managing naturally occurring algae within the swimming pool environment.
Councillor Ian Walker, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods and Communities, acknowledged the inconvenience to customers but stressed the importance of maintaining the facility.
He said the works were designed to protect the long-term condition of the centre and ensure the swimming pool remains safe, clean and fully operational.
During the pool closure, visitors will still be able to use the gym, squash courts, badminton courts and fitness classes, except on the day of the full centre closure.
Swimmers looking for alternative facilities are being encouraged to use nearby pools, including Shipley Swimming Pool and Ilkley Pool.
