Former owners of a Bradford shisha bar have been found guilty of several charges regarding the breach of the smoking ban.
Pasha Shisha Lounge, on Edderthrope Street, run by the company Indulge Café, was visited a number of times by Bradford Council Member throughout last year, with numerous people found smoking shisha pipes inside the property.
Subsequently they were found to be in breach of the smoking ban, which was introduced in 2007 and outlawed smoking in an enclosed public space.
In order for shisha bars to operate in accordance with the ban, smoking is only allowed in an open area or terrace.
The company was found guilty on Friday, but proceedings have been complicated after they went into voluntary liquidation last month, with a decision to be made later this week regarding how to proceed with the case.
Although nobody from Indulge attended Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court, the case was heard in their absence, with District Judge Richard Clews finding the company guilty of all charges.
The charges were; three charges of failing to prevent smoking in smoke-free premises, failing to discharge general health, safety and welfare duty to employee, contravening a health and safety improvement notice and failing to discharge the general health/safety duty to person other than employee.
