Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Ackton, Pontefract.
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident which took place at around 7:15pm on Common Side Lane in Ackton, on Wednesday 4 May.
The incident took place after a black Vauxhall Insignia travelling towards Featherstone and a red MV Agusta Motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction have collided on the road.
Emergency services attended including fire and ambulance.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 57-year-old male, from Bradford area, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the car was treated at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
PS Ann Drury of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "Investigations are ongoing into this tragic accident in Pontefract and we are appealing for witnesses.
"I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or saw either of these vehicles on this road before the collision occurred.
