A hospital consultant at Wigan Infirmary has been banned from medicine for a year after he viciously attacked his daughter.
A Medical Practitioners' Tribunal Service was told that consultant cardiologist Gohar Rahman "slapped, kicked, punched and struck" his 17-year-old daughter at their home in Standish, she suffered bruising to her forehead, lower back, left shoulder and left hand side of her body.
Rahman also struck her with a walking stick so hard that he left three parallel lines on her buttocks.
Back in February this year the 57 year old who was convicted of causing actual bodily harm was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, and was ordered to complete 100 hours' unpaid work.
The consultant cardiologist had been previously suspended by Wigan NHS Trust bosses but has now been banned from practising medicine for a 12 month period following the Medical Practitioners Tribunal.
