Police are appealing for witnesses and footage after a 21-year-old man was critically injured during a violent incident in Dewsbury.
Serious disorder under investigation
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was left with a serious head injury following a violent disorder in Dewsbury.
Kirklees CID is leading the investigation after officers were called at 11:11pm on Thursday, 13 November, to reports of a group of men fighting with weapons, including sticks and bars, in the Clarkson Street area.
Police established that the incident had taken place on Northstead, where three men were found injured. Two were treated by paramedics for minor facial injuries, while a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
Eight arrests made
Following enquiries, officers arrested eight men on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident. All remain in custody as investigations continue.
Detective Inspector Divek Ubhi, of Kirklees CID, said:
“We are continuing extensive enquiries today following what was clearly a serious disorder incident in Dewsbury last night.
The fighting has left a 21-year-old man with very serious injuries, and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what took place and bring everyone involved to justice.
A number of men remain in custody, and we are appealing to anyone who can assist our investigation in any way — particularly anyone who has footage of the fighting — to come forward.”
