Two Bradford men who caused the deaths of a taxi driver and his passenger while racing each other at speeds of up to 85pmh have been jailed for a total of 15 years.
27 year old Muhammad Sikder, of Sylhet Close, Manningham (pictured on the right), and 23 year old Ismail Miah, of Springfield Place, Manningham (pictured on the left), had both pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving.
Bradford Crown Court heard that Manningham Taxis driver Mirza Abdul Malick, 64, and his passenger, Paul Hayward, 55, died at the scene of the crash on the A650 Shipley-Airedale Road, shortly before 11am on Saturday, January 2, this year.
Mr Malick’s Proton cab was struck by a BMW, driven by Sikder, who had been racing Miah, who was driving a Range Rover, which also hit the BMW.
The pair were each jailed for seven-and-half years.
