A cyclist has been left fighting for his life following a collision involving a suspected drug driver in Ashton.
At around 6:45am on Tuesday 11 September, Greater Manchester Police were called to Park Parade, close to the junction with Scotland Street, to reports of a collision.
Officers attended and established that a black Ford Fiesta was driving on Park Parade when it was involved in a collision with a man riding a bicycle.
The cyclist was taken to hospital with life threatening head injuries and remains there for treatment.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving and has since been released under investigation.
Police Constable John Harrison-Gough, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident and we are keen to speak to anyone that can assist us with our enquiries.
“Although the collision happened early in the morning, we believe there may be a number of witnesses who might possibly hold key information.
“If you believe you can help us then please contact the GMP Serious Collision Investigation Unit.”
