Detectives are appealing for information after a couple were attacked during an attempted robbery at their home in Leeds.
The victims, an 85-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were at their home in Edwin Road, Hyde Park, shortly before midnight on Sunday, December 4th.
He repeatedly punched the woman in the head and hit her with a hammer. Her husband tried to intervene but was pushed to the floor.
He demanded money and tried to take gold bangles from her wrist.
He then shouted to someone upstairs and the couple became aware a second man was in the house searching other rooms.
The first man threatened to kill her and smashed her phone when she tried to call the police. Both men then left the house empty-handed.
The woman suffered heavy swelling and bruising to both eyes and marks to her hands and wrists and was treated in hospital.
The first suspect was described as white, about 5 foot 7ins tall and of medium build. The second was described as about 5 foot 10ins tall and was thought to be black. Both were wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves.
