Bradford Council is urging people to have their say as consultation on a new Council Tax Reduction scheme is coming to an end this week.
Council Tax Reduction is a local scheme which provides Council Tax discounts for qualifying residents of working age. Those of pension age will not be affected.
The scheme started in 2013/14 when it was paid for by Government grants. However, the government has since cut its grants by £120 million leaving the council with the choice of changing the scheme to reduce its cost, or to make savings from elsewhere.
The proposed changes include reducing the maximum level of support provided by the scheme for all claimants and removing entitlement from anyone who would otherwise qualify for less than £4 per week.
