A convicted murderer who stabbed his lover in the neck as he slept has been jailed.
Peter James Lund, 63, of Pett Level Road, Winchelsea Beach, East Sussex travelled to Manchester in December 2016 to see a man he met on a dating app and spent the evening with him, after taking him to a Chinese takeaway in his silver Jaguar.
A few days later, Lund and the man spent the evening together watching television.
The next morning the man awoke to find Lund holding a knife to his neck and a struggle ensued. The victim managed to disarm his attacker after a fight which left him with slashes to his neck.
Lund was arrested for attempted murder after a short manhunt, as he tried to escape towards Great Yarmouth.
Manchester Crown Court heard how he had spent a large amount of his life in prison, having been convicted of murder in 1980 after he bludgeoned another man to death in his bed.
He was jailed yesterday, 30 August, for 27 years.
